creating opportunity, since 1972
Each ramp that CIL installs, free of charge to low-income Berkeley residents, costs between $5,000 and $7,000. Because they’re so expensive, CIL is limited in the number it can build.

Volunteer

Since our founding as a small group of disabled activists in Berkeley, we have relied on the energy and talent of volunteers to assist our consumers in leading independent lives. Today, as we increase the number of people we serve, we need your support more than ever.

We need volunteers to assist with the following tasks:

  • Clerical work
  • Word processing
  • Data entry
  • Mailings
  • Reading for staff and consumers with disabilities
  • Staffing at outreach events
  • Participation on the Board of Directors or Friends of CIL

If you’re interested in sharing your knowledge and skills with the disability community, please contact our Information and Referral Specialist.
